More Affordable Travel Vaccines Now Available at 1 Health Christchurch

Bernard Teo • 20 November 2025

Planning an overseas adventure? We have excellent news for travellers across Christchurch and Canterbury.

At 1 Health Wigram, we have recently reduced our travel vaccine prices. By streamlining our internal processes and negotiating better deals with suppliers, we can now offer some of the most competitive rates in the city—without compromising on the expert medical care you trust.

Whether you are backpacking through Southeast Asia or taking a family holiday to the Pacific Islands, protecting your health shouldn't cost the earth.

Why travel vaccines matter

It’s easy to get caught up in booking flights and accommodation, but your health is the most important thing you pack. Diseases like Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Rabies—which are rare here in New Zealand—can be common in other parts of the world.

Think of travel vaccines as your "health insurance." An upfront vaccination is far more affordable (and less stressful) than trying to navigate a foreign hospital system if you get sick abroad.

What travel vaccines do we offer?

We provide a comprehensive range of vaccinations tailored to your specific destination. During your consultation, our clinicians review the latest global health advisories to ensure you get exactly what you need—nothing more, nothing less.

Common travel vaccinations include:

  • Hepatitis A: Essential for countries with water/food contamination risks.

  • Hepatitis B: Recommended for longer trips or areas with high prevalence.

  • Typhoid: Important for travel to South Asia, Africa, and parts of South America.

  • Tetanus: A crucial booster if it has been more than 10 years since your last one.

  • Whooping Cough (Pertussis): Vital if you are travelling with infants or visiting outbreak areas.

  • Rabies: Recommended for outdoor adventurers or those visiting remote areas.

  • Influenza & MMR: Ensuring your routine immunisations are up to date before you fly.

Important Note: We do not currently offer Yellow Fever vaccinations. If your itinerary requires this, we can advise you on where to access it in Christchurch.

Our New Pricing & Consultation

We believe transparent healthcare is better healthcare. Following our price review, we are proud to offer reduced rates to the Christchurch community.

This comprehensive 30-minute appointment includes:

  • A risk assessment based on your specific itinerary.

  • Prescriptions for Antimalarials or Traveller's Diarrhoea medication if required.

  • Practical advice on food safety, water hygiene, and bite prevention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a patient at 1 Health? No. Our travel clinic is open to everyone. You do not need to be enrolled with us to book a travel consultation. We welcome casual patients from all over Christchurch.

When should I book? Ideally, you should book 4–6 weeks before you leave. Some vaccines (like Hepatitis A) require multiple doses spaced apart to give you full protection. However, if you are travelling on short notice, don't panic—contact us, and we can still provide significant protection options.

Can I get vaccinated on the same day? Yes. In most cases, we have the vaccines in stock and can administer them during your consultation to save you a second trip.
