What to Expect at Your DL9 Assessment
Our process is streamlined to ensure you meet the official medical standards required for your licence class.
- Vision: Visual acuity and field checks (remember your glasses!).
- Heart & BP: Cardiovascular health check to meet approved standards.
- Sleep & Fatigue: Screening for sleep apnoea risks and alertness.
- Medical History: Review of diabetes, neurological health, and medications.
Please bring to your appointment: Your current driver’s licence, your glasses or contacts (if worn for driving), a list of current medications, and your DL9 form (if you have one).

How much does a driver’s medical cost?
Our standard fee is $110 (for patients under 65). This is a private fee and is not funded.
Do I need to be a 1 Health patient?
No. You do not need to be enrolled with us. We welcome casual patients for driver medicals.
Can I come on the weekend?
Yes. We have specific slots available on Saturdays and Sundays to suit shift workers.
Do you submit the form for me?
We provide you with the completed Medical Certificate. In many cases, we can also lodge the "Fit for Driving" status electronically to the transport agency system to speed up your licence renewal.
