Driver’s Medical FAQs

  • Do I need to be a 1 Health patient to get a driver’s medical?

No. You do not need to be enrolled with us. We welcome casual patients for one-off Driver Medicals. However, please bring a summary of your medical history if you have one.

  • Can I get a driver’s medical on weekends?

Yes. We know transport works 24/7. We are open Saturdays and Sundays to make it easier for you to renew your licence without taking time off work.

  • How much does a driver’s medical cost?

Our fee is $110 for drivers under 65. For drivers aged 65+, the fee is $145. Note: Additional fees may apply if specific blood tests or ECGs are required by NZTA.

  • What happens during a driver’s medical appointment?

It is a 15–30 minute check where a doctor assesses your fitness to drive. We check your eyesight, blood pressure, heart health, and mobility to ensure you meet the approved safety standards.

  • Which types of driver licences can I get assessed for?

We do them all: Class 2, 3, 4, 5 (Heavy Trade), P Endorsement (Passenger), V (Vehicle Recovery), D (Dangerous Goods), I (Instructor), O (Testing Officer), and Senior Renewals (75+).
