Why Choose Microsuction Over Syringing?

Old-fashioned ear syringing forces water into the ear canal at high pressure, which can cause infection, dizziness, or even eardrum damage. Microsuction is different:

It's Dry

No water is used, significantly reducing the risk of infection.

It's Visual

Our nurses use a microscope (loupes) to see exactly what they are doing, ensuring they only target the wax, not your delicate ear canal.

It's Safe

Suitable for patients with perforated eardrums, sensitive ears, or a history of ear surgery.

Our Clinic Standard

We do not use ear syringing. We rely 100% on sterile microsuction for the safest possible result.

Signs You Have a Wax Blockage

You may not need a hearing aid—you might just need a clean. Book an appointment if you are experiencing:

  • Sudden Hearing Loss: Especially after swimming or showering.
  • Fullness: A feeling of pressure or "plugged" sensation.
  • Tinnitus: Ringing or buzzing noises in the ear.

  • Consultation Only: If we check your ears and find no wax to remove, a standard nurse consultation fee applies ($XX).
  • Ear Drops: Wax-softening drops available onsite ($7.00).

Ear Cleaning FAQs

  • How much does ear wax removal cost?

Our standard microsuction appointment is $60. This covers the nurse's time, sterile equipment, and wax removal for one or both ears.

  • Is microsuction painful?

No. Most patients find it painless. You will hear a "wind rushing" noise from the suction, which can be loud but is not painful. If the wax is very hard, you might feel a slight pulling sensation.

  • Why shouldn't I use cotton buds?

Cotton buds (Q-tips) often push wax deeper into the canal, creating an "impacted" plug against the eardrum. This makes the blockage worse and harder to remove.

  • Do I need to use drops before my appointment?

We recommend using olive oil or wax-softening drops for 1-2 days before your visit. This softens the wax and makes the removal quicker and more comfortable.
