Location: 1 Henry Wigram Drive, Christchurch
Position: Permanent, 0.6 FTE or more (flexible)
Start Date: Negotiable

At 1 Health, we’re not just offering a job—we’re offering a work environment where professional satisfaction, clinical excellence, and respectful relationships come first. We’re seeking a like-minded General Practitioner who values quality care, a supportive team culture, and meaningful connections with patients.

About Us

1 Health is a modern, boutique-style GP clinic in Christchurch offering upmarket, preventative-focused care. We pride ourselves on running on time, delivering high-quality continuity of care, and fostering a calm and collaborative work environment.

We believe great medicine happens when GPs are well-supported, their time is respected, and they’re surrounded by patients who value the care being provided. Our team is small and close-knit, allowing flexibility, open communication, and genuine collegiality.

What You Can Expect

  • A strong emphasis on professionalism and timekeeping—patients are taught to arrive early or on time, and respect that their appointment has a clear timeframe.
  • A well-informed and appreciative patient base who understand the need for longer appointments when appropriate, and the value of your time and expertise
  • Patients who do not align with our clinic culture—such as those who are rude, entitled, or disrespectful—are gently encouraged to seek care elsewhere
  • Low medicolegal risk environment due to good systems, respectful patients, and clear communication
  • The opportunity to work 0.6 FTE or more, which supports strong continuity of care and patient relationships
  • Self-directed growth and remuneration with opportunities to introduce services or procedures you enjoy (e.g., skin surgery, ear microsuction, ear piercing, point-of-care ultrasound)
  • One-hour appointment options for complex cases
  • Tools and clinical support for procedural medicine (e.g., skin hooks for flaps, diathermy, cervical dilators, nebuliser, ultrasound)

Our Values

  • Preventative, relationship-based care
  • Team-first culture—we work well together, communicate clearly, and support each other’s preferences and working styles
  • Respectful, professional interactions—with both patients and colleagues
  • Focus on quality over volume—we’re not a high-turnover model, and our patients value that
“Burnout isn’t about the number of sessions—it’s about the quality of the relationships around you. I’m doing 14 sessions a week and would still choose to work with our team and our patients over two sessions in a horrible work environment.”
— Dr Bernard Teo, Founder and GP, 1 Health

Who You Are

  • A vocationally registered GP (or working toward this) who enjoys continuity and preventative care
  • A great communicator who thrives in a small, close team
  • Organised, efficient, and happy in an environment that values timekeeping and professionalism
  • Open to growing your scope and pursuing areas of clinical interest
  • Committed to creating a respectful, safe, and positive healthcare experience for patients and colleagues
